Lifespace Communities welcomed Phyllis DeLaricheliere on October 7 as executive director at The Craig in Amarillo, Texas. DeLaricheliere has nearly 20 years’ experience in senior living, most recently serving as Executive Director of Sunrise Senior Living. She has also held leadership roles at Brookdale and Benchmark Senior Living. In addition to her senior living operations experience, DeLaricheliere serves as an educator and consultant on how to care for a loved one living with dementia.

“Phyllis shares Lifespace’s belief of cultivating an environment where everyone thrives,” said Abraham Mathew, vice president, regional operations. “Throughout her career, she has led communities and initiatives where the emphasis is on creating and maintaining a positive resident experience. Her leadership style is supportive and empowers team members to do their best work. Her experience, combined with her concern for others, make her a great fit for The Craig and Lifespace.”

DeLaricheliere is focused on supporting team members to ensure a positive resident experience and an environment where both residents and team members can thrive. “In today’s job market, it’s a rare find to discover an employer who views their team members as a major part of its success,” she said. “I appreciate that Lifespace enables team members to thrive and bring their passion and talent to their work. Lifespace truly believes that its people are their greatest assets.”

Earlier in her career, DeLaricheliere owned a fine arts school, where she discovered she could bring the arts to those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. This sparked her passion for memory care and senior living. “Through that experience, I fell in love with the possibility of helping make someone’s life journey amazing. When I first became an executive director almost 20 years ago, I realized that I, with the support of a great team, could share my vision and passion to help older adults live their best lives,” she said.
