In October 2018, we announced plans to expand the Lifespace Board of Directors to include a Lifespace resident as a voting member in 2019.

After a comprehensive selection process, the Lifespace Board Governance and Nominating Committee interviewed five finalists at the end of February. As expected, each candidate brought a wealth of experience and expertise to the table. Following the same selection criteria used for prior board members, we’re pleased to announce the addition of resident William (Bill) Rich as the newest voting member of our board.

Bill is passionate about making an impact. We believe his background and board experience make him well suited for the fiduciary responsibility of serving as a Lifespace board member while also enabling him to bring forward the resident perspective.

Before retirement, Bill had a successful career in the for-profit sector, where he worked for International Business Machines (IBM) for almost 30 years. While at IBM, he held a variety of positions, including corporate secretary, corporate vice president, and president of the IBM Service Sector Group. He also has extensive experience working with not-for-profit organizations, both nationally and internationally.

Bill and his wife, Frannie, have been residents at The Waterford in Juno Beach, Florida, since 2007. They remain active in their church and in various other programs where giving back is a priority — something he hopes to do for The Waterford and for the entire Lifespace organization.

In a brief statement, Bill expressed excitement for his new role. “The Waterford has been my home for more than a decade, so it’s a great honor and privilege to be the first resident elected to the Lifespace Board,” he said. “I’m excited to collaborate with my fellow Board members and the Lifespace leadership team in shaping a bright future for the organization and its residents.”

On behalf of the board of directors, I’m thrilled to welcome Bill as a voting member of the governing body for Lifespace Communities. We believe his addition will enhance our governance structure and lead to a more unified organization.
